Support for community groups
General support: Jon has acted as consultant archaeologist for many community group projects. This has involved support to carry out fieldwork, running training workshops and connecting groups with schools and other communities such as those with learning difficulties.
Grant funding: Jon is experienced in supporting communities to make bids for grant funding from established sources such as the Heritage Lottery Fund. He is also keen to support groups to identify and apply for other sources of grant funding available to community groups.
Specialist advice: Jon offers support with geophysical survey (earth resistance and fluxgate gradiometry), fieldwalking, interpreting aerial photography, documentary research, map regression, test pitting, larger excavations, finds work and offer help and advice finding specialist support for finds analysis. He also supports writing up of work and publication.
Training and workshops: Jon can create and run workshops on all of the above topics and can deliver courses and workshops for a variety of communities, for example; people with learning difficulties, mental health issues and many physical difficulties. Jon also has experience of designing and delivering work activity for young people making community reparations in the justice system.
