Queens Mill Archaeology and History Group, Castleford. Friday 10am - 12 noon 

Jon currently leads regular courses on Friday mornings in Castleford. These are discussion led meetings based on a monthly theme which is agreed upon by the group itself. Jon prepares a presentation around the topic of the day and encourages questions and discussions about it in a seminar type approach to learning.   

Recent themes have included: 

  • The History of the South Bank of the Aire  in Castleford,

  • Slavery

  • The History of social care

  • The Knights Templar

  • Deserted Medieval Villages

  • Viking Yorkshire

  • Battlefield Archaeology

  • Introduction to Archaeology

  • The Romans 

 

Attendance is payable monthly at £5 per session

York Down Syndrome Support Group - Post 16 Archaeology and History Club  

Jon facilitates this new monthly group for young people who have learning disabilities/difficulties in York. Meetings usually take place at the home of a YDSSG member on Friday afternoons 1.30pm  - 3.30pm - usually the second Friday of the month.  The group decide upon the subject that they would like to learn about.
